Awards
The Cub Scout program offers many opportunities to recognize the achievements of Cub Scouts. Each award program compliments the existing Cub Scout program by encouraging a boy to do his best, while emphasizing a different aspect of the Cub Scout program. Boys participating in these award programs will have fun discovering and building new skills.
Listed below are several award programs currently available to Cub Scouts:
 |
Academics and Sports Award The Cub Scouts Academics and Sports Program is one method of addressing the third aim of Scouting: the development of physical, mental and emotional fitness. Fitness includes the body (well-tuned and healthy), the mind (able to think and solve problems), and the emotions (self-control, courage, and self-respect). As in most activities in Cub Scouting, this is not meant to be a highly competitive program, instead, the boys are encouraged to do their best. |
 |
Outdoor Activity Award The Outdoor Activity Award program teaches boys to respect, care for, and enjoy our natural resources. |
 |
Religious Emblems Award
To encourage members to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed religious emblems programs. While not Scouting programs, the religious emblems programs are approved by the Boy Scouts of America. The emblems awarded through these programs can be worn on the official Cub Scout uniform. The various religious groups administer the programs. |
 |
Leave No Trace Award
The Leave No Trace Award program teaches scouts not only how to enjoy our outdoor environment, but also how to respect and protect it. |

Say Yes to Reading Contest
Reading is an important skill that sharpens the mind and broadens the imagination. To encourage scout growth through reading, Boy's Life magazine is sponsoring the annual "Say Yes to Reading Contest". |
 |
President's Volunteer Service Award
USA Freedom Corps is an office of the White House that was started by President George W. Bush to help expand volunteer service around the United States. |

Internet Scout Patch
For many of us, the internet has become a useful and important tool in our daily lives. Increasingly, however, the internet has also become a favorite tool for criminals out to steal money, identities, or lives. The U.S. Scouting Service Project is sponsoring this award in an effort to teach scouts how to use the internet safely. |
